Custom Garment Info

Custom Garments are very special, and I put a lot of effort into making each garment as unique as I can for each client. If you have never had a custom garment created for you, that’s totally fine, but you should know a bit more about the process, and price breakdown. Having a custom dress created for you requires a lot of back and forth between me as the designer, and you as the client and I want as much clarity in the process as possible.

Please Note that at the moment I am NOT taking on custom garments. I wanted to have this page available to answer any questions you may have, and also allow you to insert yourself into a queue for when I do begin taking custom pieces on again. There is a section below to submit your name/ concept into my queue.

The Process

The process begins with a Skype/ FaceTime call to get acquainted and to learn more about the garment you are interested in/ we go through a series of measuring you so I can create your custom pattern.

After our initial call, I begin making your pattern which can take anywhere from 5-10 hours depending on the complexity of design.Once your pattern has been drafted, I will begin creating a mockup for you.

I will also spend a day sourcing your fabrics. I live in Los Angeles, and have the luxury of an entire fabric district! A fabric sourcing day is minimum of 2 hours, but if i’m searching for something specific can last up to 6 hours of just scouring fabric shops for the perfect fabric.

Now that I have sourced your fabrics, and created a mockup for you, I will mail you the mockup and samples, and we will have another facet to decide on fabrics and adjust your pattern. After sending your pattern back to me, I will make the proper adjustments, and send the mockup back to you for another round of adjustments if needed.

Once the second draft of the pattern is returned to me, I will begin creating your pattern, and will typically film the process for my social media channels.( I send photos along the way to keep you excited as well!) When the garment is finished, I will send the garment to you, and boom! That’s how my process works.

Pricing

The cost for a garment absolutely varies depending on the complexity of design, fabric cost, and amount of adjustments made to the original design.

Typically a dress/gown will range from $400 -$2000+. Like I said, the pricing is a big variable and cannot be determined until I have a good idea of the desired piece. You will know exactly how much you will be spending before the process begins. Before taking your project on, I’ll need to chat with you to discuss exactly what you are wanting so I can decide if your project is a good fit for me also. At the end of the day, I’m still an artist and want to be inspired by the projects I take on. Once I have decided to take your custom garment on, I have a contract that must be signed before proceeding.

I understand that the cost of a custom design can seem daunting, but when you break down the amount of hours spent working on a garment/ patterning/shopping, the hours add up tremendously, and I have spent the past 15 years teaching myself a craft to be able to support myself, and must pay myself for the amount of labor that goes into a design.
