The Etoile Skirt Sewing Pattern Guide
Step into the romance of the Étoile Skirt, a design that captures the sculptural elegance of vintage couture while remaining beautifully wearable. Loosely inspired by the work of Charles James, this skirt is part of a special collaboration with Charm Patterns by Gertie and has been drafted to align with the "Lamour" series sizing, making it a seamless pairing with the Etoile Bodice.
Worn together, the look feels refined and intentional, though the skirt stands just as strongly on its own, complete with an included waistband for a polished, independent finish.
At its core, the Étoile is a study in movement and construction. The skirt is comprised of six structured upper panels that flow into six dramatic godets, designed to be cut in tulle netting for maximum volume and fluidity.
The pattern yardage reflects a single layer of godets, though it performs especially beautifully when layered, creating a fuller, more ethereal effect. If you choose to build up the layers, you will simply want to scale your yardage accordingly.
Designed with versatility in mind, the Étoile Skirt can also be paired with bodices from the Gunnar Deatherage collection by blending between size ranges, opening the door to endless customization.
Its silhouette carries a sense of vintage charm with a modern sensibility, offering graceful movement and a touch of drama. Whether styled for a wedding, a formal event, or simply a moment when you want to feel extraordinary, this skirt brings a sense of occasion to wherever you go.
